GeneSight Testing
Genetic testing can assist providers and patients in choosing medications and making treatment decisions. ASIC Behavioral Health does provide this service by ordering the test via an outside laboratory, Assurex Health, who completes the test analysis and provides the test results.
The GeneSight test does NOT provide information about diagnosis. This test is used to understand how the body may respond to and utilize certain medications. This test is a valuable tool providing support in clinical decision making, but it does not take the place of a thorough evaluation.
Assurex Health sponsors a program for patients with medical insurance to obtain genetic testing at a reasonable cost even if it is not covered by their medical insurance. Patients can contact Assurex Health directly to inquire about costs. The current Assurex Health program states that the maximum out-of-pocket expense is $330, and lower rates may be available through their financial aid program.*
