PATIENTS MUST REQUEST THEIR OWN REFILLS FROM OUR OFFICE. WE DO
NOT ACCEPT REFILL REQUESTS FROM PHARMACIES. BEFORE REQUESTING A
REFILL FROM THE OFFICE, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR PHARMACY TO CHECK
IF YOU MAY HAVE MEDICATINS ON HOLD TO BE FILLED OR ADDITIONAL
REFILLS ON FILE BEFORE CONTACTING THE OFFICE FOR REFILL REQUESTS.
To ensure adequate time to refill prescriptions, there is a 10-business day turnaround time for all prescription refill requests. Refills can be requested by requesting on the secure Spruce app, calling the office at 910-672-6432, select the appropriate option for refill request, or leave your refill request with the administrative staff. Please leave the name of the medication, the strength/mg of the medication, and the pharmacy you wish to use. If the pharmacy information is not left with the request, the medication will be sent to the pharmacy on file for the patient and it will be the patient’s responsibility to handle transferring the medication to the correct pharmacy.
*Please note that ADHD stimulants and controlled substances are not urgently refilled after business hours or on the weekends. We realize circumstances and emergencies happen and these will be addressed on an
individual basis. However, we encourage you to check medication needs prior to going on vacations, holidays, business trips, etc. for your medication needs to be met timely. We do not prescribe controlled substances across state lines. Please plan for these medication needs accordingly.
The financial responsibility for services is the sole responsibility of the patient and/or parent or guardian. If a patient is using insurance benefits, we will attempt to collect from the insurance policy as a courtesy. Co-payments, deductibles, and co-insurances are the responsibility of the
patient and are due at the time of the appointment. If a patient has two insurances, coordination of benefits may be necessary to ensure proper payment by insurance. We request that you work with us to ensure financial obligations are taken care of promptly. Failure to do so may result in increased patient responsibility. Please check with your insurance company prior to your appointment for information on your patient responsibility.
Any remaining charges after the claim has been submitted to insurance are the responsibility of
the patient and the patient will be billed for these charges. We do offer cash pay rates and sliding scale rates for uninsured and underinsured patients. Sliding scale rates require an application and income verification for approval.
For life-threatening emergencies please contact 911 or present to your nearest emergency room. Patients can also dial 988 for emergent suicidal or homicidal ideation. For urgent or emergent concerns for your provider please call the office at 910-672-6432 to be directed to the on-call service. There is a charge for after hours calls at the discretion of the provider.
MEDICATION REFILLS AND APPOINTMENT CHANGES ARE NOT CONSIDERED EMERGENCIES.
PATIENTS UTILIZING THE AFTER HOURS SERVICE FOR MEDICATION REFILLS OR APPOINTMENT CHANGES WILL BE CHARGED THE AFTER HOURS CHARGE. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO USE SPRUCE TO NOTIFY THE PRACTICE OF CHANGES TO YOUR APPOINTMENT OR MEDICATION REQUESTS. YOUR REQUEST FOR MEDICATION REFILLS OR APPOINTMENT CHANGES WILL BE ADDRESSED THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY.
Parents must be present for appointments for minor children. Parents can provider written
documentation giving another adult permission to be present at the appointment. Parents may
excuse themselves to wait in the lobby (for in person) or excuse themselves from the virtual
room (virtual appointments) while the provider talks with the minor, and then return to the room
to discuss the treatment plan/concerns or remain in the visit for the duration of the appointment.
Medications will not be prescribed until the provider has discussed the medications and
treatment plan with the parent or guardian.
ASIC Behavioral Health is a mental health provider and as a practice we do not get involved in
custody disputes as our focus is the care of the patient. Unless there are court documents stating
otherwise, both parents are allowed to have HIPPA compliant knowledge about the care of the
minor child. Any specific requests regarding parental involvement in the care of minor children
must be supported by court documentation. At the onset of services, the custodial parent must
sign a release granting permission as to who will have access to the child’s information and
appointments as well as providing documentation detailing parental roles as appropriate.
The therapeutic relationship between the provider and patient are necessary for positive mental
health outcomes. It is necessary that the patient feel as though they can relate to the provider,
engage in difficult and challenging discussions with their provider with ease, and feel as though
they matter, and their voice and needs are heard. We strive for this in every patient encounter.
We encourage our patients to openly discuss their needs, goals for care, and any concerns they
have about the care they are receiving. Should our patients feel their needs are not being met at
any time, ASIC Behavioral Health understand the importance of this dynamic and will assist our
patients in every way possible to meet this need.
ASIC Behavioral Health’s Discharge Policy is as follows: For established patients:
1. Immediate discharge can occur if a patient withholds information vital to the
management of symptoms or information which may affect their treatment plan
2. If the patient acts in an abusive or excessively rude manner to the staff or clinicians.
3. Refusal to follow the treatment plan, failure to keep regular appointments, or is
habitually late to appointments.
4. Inappropriate use of medications and any other behaviors the practice deems may
place the patient, staff, or practice at risk.
ASIC Behavioral Health will notify established patients in writing of discharge from
practice, reason for discharge,

Should ASIC Behavioral Health deem that we are not able to provide the services that a patient needs we will notify the patient immediately and help transition the patient to the care of provider or organization better suited to manage their individual needs.
